The BAILS program offers students with an interest in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology the advantage of a broad educational experience with the ability to learn about human communication and disorders. The courses required for the emphasis in Communication Sciences and Disorders serve two purposes. First, the emphasis courses provide you with the pre-professional course requirements necessary to enter many graduate programs including Northern Arizona University's graduate program in Clinical Speech Pathology. Second, they provide you with general education in Communication Sciences and Disorders which contributes to the broad appeal of the BAILS program. All BAILS students take 15 hours in a focus area outside the students' emphasis which are selected by the student and approved by the advisor. The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders has established five Department approved focus areas: science and research, hearing science, special education, or language and culture.
